Default Tailgate light strip

I have a 2017 F150 xlt with towing package. I recently added a tailgate light strip which was hard wired in.
My truck now thinks there is a trailer connected. I assume its sensing the power increase. I thought hard wiring would eliminate this.
Is there a way to reset the settings, using Forscan or whatever, so it does not think a trailer is connected?

What did you "hard wire" it to? It can't be any of the trailer circuits, as you have found out. You have to tap into the taillamp circuits.

Thanks. I corrected by connecting to tail lights.
