My tailgate doesn't close exactly flush with the back corner of the bed:
My thinking was that I should be able to adjust the latch a little and close that gap.
I loosened the two torque screws, thinking it would free up the latch to move a little, but while it seemed to loosen the whole latch assembly, it didn't allow it to move the position of it.
Is there something else that I need to loosen, or is there a different way to adjust how much it closes?
when I put the soft open on mine. I lined the lower right hinge with the paint markings of the original hinge, when I closed the gate it was high and stuck out like yours, I moved the lower right hinge lower and towards the bumper and it made my gate flush.
Does anyone know if this lower hinge adjustment is the same for the 12th gen as well? I have exactly the same issue on mine where the top of the gate isn't being held flush with the bed sides. You can push it in, toward the front of the truck and it sits flush, but it just drops rearwards again when you let go.
it's the lower hinges you need to adjust. if you installed the soft open or have one, that's the on you need to adjust.
I just installed the soft open on my 2016 F150 XLT and the tailgate LOOKS like it is seated properly but it takes a little slamming to get it to latch... it seems like the adjustment is just a millimeter off or so but I'm not sure of a millimeter in which way. Is it just a "trial and error" or is there some kind of advice on how it needs to be tweaked if it takes more effort to get it to latch?
