I have a 2018 f150 3.5 ecoboost that use to haul my landscaping trailer and our camper around but over this weekend, I was pulling the camper to our campground that we goto almost every other weekend and this time without warning or my knowledge the tailgate had came unlatched somehow and got completely destroyed getting stuck in between the trailer jack. Needless to say the tailgate is completely inoperable and the handle now no longer works. I know I haven't used the tailgate since Thursday when I bought some lumber and I don't have the automatic release feature on the keyfob so I couldn't have accidentally opened it and I know it's been closed since this past Thursday without issue and this happened on Saturday morning going to the campground.

I did some research and found that there was a recall on the tailgate latches that I wasn't aware of and my question is now, is ford reponsable for replacing my tailgate at their cost since I never knew about this recall and never had an issue prior to this happening?
