Tailgate Hinge ??

I'd say the dealer lied to you about no previous owner. Or they modify their tailgates.

McGuard 76029 tailgate lock has a 1/4" drive insert like a wheel lock to protect from theft 20 bucks amazon prime.
my dealer adding them to all p-ups as dealer installed options and charging 100 bucks


what we see thar though is fine American injeneuty by golly

This is the first mod we do to all of our trucks. Tailgate locks or not.

It's just a cheap way to deter theft of the tailgate. That's it. I put one on my Tacoma with no tailgate lock. Thieves will move on to another truck that doesn't have it rather than messing with yours.
