Default Tailgate freezing

Hey. Anyone else living in the colder climates having trouble getting your tailgate to open when its cold. I have the factory Ford folding tonneau cover and the other day i had a hell of a time getting the tailgate drop. The little push button was disengaging the latch system but the tailgate was frozen shut. Had to bang around the outside pretty good to get it to release. I don't reallywant to be beating my brand new truck overtime i need access to the bed. Any tips?

Was it the weather stripping on the tonneau cover that held it shut?
My 2011 would do that if I left snow on it. Sun would melt a bit then it would freeze the weather strip to the tailgate. I would always clean the snow off and had an old gift card which I used to swipe between the tailgate cap and weather strip.
Not sure if this is what you are experiencing.
Hopefully your beer is cold at least.
Cheers!
