Default Tailgate Camera Question

2015 F150. My original tailgate had an auto lock. The one I replaced it with after a crash does not have the auto lock. So that connector is not connected. The problem is that the camera shows as not available now. Is there a jumper I need to put on the lock connector to get the camera working? I could not afford a replacement tailgate so that's why I opted for the after market one. Thanks.

Depending on the factory options your truck had, there are at least 3 different tailgate wiring connectors. So, I would need more information on your truck and exactly what you replaced it with before I could help you.

Thank you for trying to help me. The truck is a 2015 F150 XLT. The replacement tailgate is just a mechanical one. It came with a bracket to mount the camera though. I used the wiring harness from the original tailgate but since there's no electrical lock mechanism, that connector is not connected. Just guessing here... that maybe the power to the camera comes from or goes through the lock mechanism and if it is not connected it gives the "Camera Unavailable" on the screen. Just a guess.

Here is the tailgate lock circuit and the camera schematic. Your connector for the tailgate should be C406.

Thank you for the diagrams. If I'm reading this correctly then the power for the camera does not go through the lock mechanism. Maybe the camera was damaged when the tailgate was hit (although the damager was not near the camera). I do have 12 volts on C406 so I guess I'll order a replacement camera and try that. Thanks again.
