Default Tailgate Button Not working

In searching the web i have not found much on the problem that I am having....I can unlock and open my tailgate when using the Door Code panel and i can do the same with using the FOB but when depressing the button on the tailgate the gate will not open or unlock. I have replaced the Solenoid actuator for the tailgate opener with out resolution and I have also tried a new button without resolution. In reading many sites they say to check the wire harness for chafes or cut wires. The wiring looks in good condition. I would like to try a Continuity (Ohms) test on the leads from the button to verify the wiring integrity but need to know what the pin layout is on the terminal plug behind the spare tire. If that tests good than what is next for the harness and what harness is it. Any information that can be provided is greatly appreciated in getting this functioning again.

Some information about your truck would be helpful. Please provide model year and option level as a minimum.

If the tailgate opens with fob and keypad then there is an issue with the wiring for the button switch. Here is the circuit diagram.

If you have FORScan you can monitor the tailgate switch status to see if the BCM is actually seeing the switch close the circuit when pressed, which will be one of the following BCM PIDs depending on MY and BCM firmware:
  • DECKLID_R_SW
  • DL_LFTGLS_SW
Here are the locations of the connectors that the switch circuit passes through. C327 is aft of the air cleaner box.
