Is it plausible and not much of a pain to my wallet in getting a tailgate assist step put into my tailgate? Something like the ones in the link below. Also are there products out that will slow down the "drop" speed of the tailgate when I open it? Thanks!
According to a rep at DeeZee their tailgate assist will be available late October. Part number will be DZ 43204. I don't know price but hopefully cheaper than the ford one.
Picked up my Ford tailgate assist at my dealer, they had them in stock. I like this one because it is all internal inside the passenger side tail light. You would not know you even had one. Do a search, someone had a nice tutorial with photos with the install.
Installed step today...looks great and was easy. Tips to share are make sure you use a deep 21mm socket for the bolts as anything shorter will start to strip the bolt heads. Also, the smaller bracket has a screw which in turn has a small "clip bracket" behind it so be aware of this!
