Default Tailgate actuator/lock not working when temps are HOT

So this is a little different from the norm of "frozen" door locks and tailgate locks. For the last week and always in the late afternoon to early evening (heat of the day), my tailgate actuator will not work. It works just fine at 4 am when I go to work and even late in the day. Time to troubleshoot. I took the access panel off yesterday evening and cleaned some bed-liner residue off everything and the actuator motor worked just fine. Put it all back together and thought "that took care of it". Well today, the temps hit 98 degrees and when I got home from work at 2pm, locked the truck with the fob and all the doors locked. The tailgate did not. Tried the keypad, all door actuators "clicked" but the tailgate remained unlocked. Nothing I could do would lock the tailgate. Just went outside at 7pm, tailgate has been in the shade for 2 hours now and it locked just fine with the fob. Unlocked with the fob and then locked it again with the door keypad. As we all know, heat does a number on electronics. Time for a trip to the dealer. Has anyone else experienced this?

Pulled the connector apart and sprayed electrical parts cleaner in both ends. I'll see if that helps, but I am not getting my hopes up.

Did it help? I know less than you about that lock, but it sounded to me like something was binding up when it was warm.

Well at 2 pm today, it was 97, tailgate in the sun. I locked and unlocked it with the fob and keypad about 10 times. Never skipped a beat. Hope it was a dirty or loose connection. I will report back if I continue to have issues.

Well the issue is back. Tailgate will not unlock with fob or driver door unlock button. Headed to the dealer. Took a video to show them.

I thought when I unplugged it and cleaned it with electrical parts cleaner, it took care of it. The service adviser and I are about to get real cozy. This issue and my 2016 Explorer needs the "gas exhaust smell" recall done.

Not good on that exhaust, that's the same as the LEOs have been having problems with, nothing to fool around with, dangerous.
