Angry Tail Gate Step Issues...

My Tailgate Step, either is really difficult to get it to latch (sometimes having to slam it in 3 or 4 times before it latches)... or... it doesn't stay latched, popping up by itself.... or... it won't pop out when I hit the button.

Very annoying.

Stealership has looked at it twice now... replaced a couple of parts.. but no change.

Have any of you has such issues, and what was done for resolution.

Mine has been fine other than a standard requirement to close it with AUTHORITY ! otherwise it doesn't lock in place.

Well now...

I am thinking the techs at my Ford Dealership, must not have the same book that you have!

I was thinking about trying to adjust the striker myself... the symptoms make me think the lock plate is too deep, and needs to be set just a bit looser.

Thanks for sharing the pages out of your book.
