Default "System off to save battery " warning help

This has popped up on my radio screen of my 18 XLT screw 2.7. "System off to save Battery" "Please turn ignition off or start engine" It shows up on th screen before I even put the key in the ignition.
The engine starts fine. Is my battery going bad or what? TIA!

What kind of driving have you been doing?

A lot of people are driving less this year for obvious reasons, and a lot of batteries are not being adequately charged by the infrequent driving/short tripping.

Possibly consider a battery maintainer when parked to get the battery nicely reconditioned and topped off

Normally I drive 750 plus miles a week. Been off work about 2 weeks for holidays/vacation and such. I start back to work on Monday. I will see if it continues. Thank you.

Several year old batteries, short trips, less use = weird stuff crops up. Many threads on this very thing. Many are utilizing Battery Tender or similar to resolve this.

I'd bet your battery is on it's way out. If you can, get it tested, and also charge it.

How much you drive isn't the issue - it's how much you drive without turning the engine off. You need to drive 30+ minutes to charge these batteries. Driving 10 minutes, then turning the engine off and then doing that again 20 times will do a lot of harm.

I put a Battery Tender Plus on my 2013 and never see that message, which I saw frequently during the winter before doing this.

I am a sales rep, covering 3 states, so lots of hours between engine starts. Just been mostly home last 2 weeks. Back out on Monday, so we will see.

That notice normally shows up after you've been running the accessory function and it has turned off automatically. Has someone else been in the vehicle listening to the radio or something when the engine is not running?

I guess is it's might be time for a new battery. I just replaced mine about 2 months ago and my truck was doing the same time.

Betcha that's all it is. Get back to normal moderate+ distance driving (and turn off ***), bet it's fine.

But I'd still recommend picking up a battery maintainer, anytime you'll be parking it for several days+ (or only driving short trips in that time), just pop the maintainer on.
