I think I know the answer to this already, but thought I'd re-up in case some of the SYNC 3 updates have changed something?

I connect my iPhone to my F150's MFT/SYNC 3 system via wire (not bluetooth). The system recognizes my phone's name just fine.

However, in the phone in CarPlay, the system name simply shows up as SYNC 3.

Anyone have any luck figuring out how to change that name from SYNC 3 to... like, literally anything else? We have multiple Fords and while it detects automatically, and does not materially impact the operation of either the phone or vehicle in any way... I'm **** and would like to tweak if possible.

Also, if this is resolved in another thread and I'm just an idiot, please let me know. And if it's not and FordIV folks see it... wtf, kids? Is this really that much of a hurdle?

 

Don't have any Apple devices, but on Android devices you click on the setting gear next to any BlueTooth connection and change it to whatever you want. Mine says "F-150, Fusion, ..."

Also this is 100% on Apple, not Ford.
