Has anyone thought about buying a Sync3 unit and putting it in say an 03 mustang with the Mach 460? I am getting intermittent CD Error and think it would be sweet to have a Sync3 with Apple Car Play. Is it probably more work than an aftermarket unit? Yes, I expect that. But I think it would be cool and it would be a Ford OEM radio.

 

Problem is the controls. How would you get the buttons for volume or any of that to control it?

 

It has no CAN bus, so no, not easily. Anything can be done with enough money.

I ripped out all the Mach460 stuff in my 2001 Cobra and replaced it with aftermarket stuff. Panasonic Double Din GPS head unit with rear camera, Fosgate 5-channel amp, Fosgate woofer speakers, Fosgate tweeters, and Fosgate subwoofer. Sounds great.
