Default Sync ....Spotify

My wife's 5 year old Subaru allows her to play Spotify from her phone without plugging into a USB port. Unless I'm doing something wrong....my 2017 won't do that. I have to physically attach my phone to display Spotify on the screen. Am I wrong about this!

My 2015, 2017, 2018 and 2019 w/Sync will play my Spotify using Bluetooth on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8, Samsung Galaxy S9, and iPhone 8 Plus. Verify your smartphone has audio showing in the Bluetooth connection. Then select Bluetooth as the source.

There is also a list of devices compatible with Sync 3 on the Sync website: Sync Phone Compatibility List

There are two ways to wirelessly control music from your phone; both use Bluetooth.

The first method is just traditional Bluetooth audio. Any app can do this. It's just simple audio via Bluetooth.

Ford Sync is also compatible with some apps via Bluetooth. Spotify is not one of them, but Pandora is. So if you use Pandora you can have app specific functions like stations, likes, etc on the head unit.

Just turn-on bluetooth and make sure you connect it to your truck. Then on the stereo go to sources and choose your phone as the source. Then go to phone and open Spotify and play. Make sure volume is turned up all the way on the phone.

Ps - Spotify eq setting you may use at home from your phone will likely sound like sheit through truck. If it does when in truck remember to go into the settings on the phone app and set the eq to normal.

You can do it one of two ways. At least with iPhones. I don't know about Androids.

First, plain vanilla Bluetooth. This is wireless. Sync will just show the current song playing. And you can change songs. That's it. You don't get any access to your playlists or anything.

Second, CarPlay. This is plugged in. This will show you all of your playlists and everything.
