Default Sync, navigation, apim issue.

My wife's 2018 f150 (46k miles) had Navigation added at the dealership when it was new. It won't take sync 3 updates from Ford over the air or usb because the updates Ford sends are for non navigation vehicle (pop up on screen). I also can't update any maps because computer and customer service are showing the truck not having navigation. I have had success updating sync using an update for one of our other vehicles with navigation. Is there a way to get everything on the same page so I can update the maps or sync? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

In order to update maps the authentic way you would have to know the vin assigned to apim in the vehicle. If that is unknown there is no authentic option to have it upgraded unless you would have someone program it known vehicle in order to get the updates.

Thanks.
Is this something a dealership can do?
Or am I going to have to get a new apim/navigation module?

No that's not something a dealer would know how to do.

There are people who know how to do this and you would need to find/contact them or someone will probably come along and offer/inform you of using a hack method to upgrade yours to a newer version but I don't personally advocate that.

If the ESN and the VIN don't match in Ford's Oasis System, getting updates to nav and possibly system updates are going to be elusive. Check with your dealer and see if they can get Ford to update their Oasis System, with the new ESN from your current APIM.

Since Ford has sent OASIS messages telling dealers infotainment upgrades are not supported I highly doubt this would ever go through Ford and get approved.
