Several people including myself have gotten that far on CGEA1.2 vehicles, but it will not control the vehicle functions and do data properly. Which CAN BUS system did you tie it into?

I made an obd connector and tied into pins 14 and 6 which according to the wiring diagram is can+ and can-.

I don't recall what system those are (MS-CAN, HS-CAN or MM(I)-CAN) off the top of my head. Also I looked back and you are using a modem that isn't used in SYNC Connect. Being you have a Lincoln it is possible you may get a different outcome since you are using an older modem and some Lincoln's did have TCU's and APP that controlled those features from the factory years before SYNC Connect was available. The key will be if those support CGEA 1.2 system.

My other concern with an older modem like that is Cell connectivity support. If those are 3G only, service for them may be terminated soon.

Yes, I took a different approach and went with an older unit that was in a 2016 MKZ that had app capability along with TCU data in the AsBuilt. Last night the TCU wasn’t recognized by forscan however this morning when I logged into the Lincoln Way app, I was presented with the activation screen. Hoping for the best when I can test again tonight.

After doing further testing my results appear to be the same as others in a cgea1.2 vehicle. Researching a bit further and reading about cgea1.2, I’ve seen several mentions in other locations/forums referencing changes made in Sync 3.3+ that may have removed needed support for certain cgea1.2 functions.. I.e. TCU communication/recognition. Curious if anyone running Sync 3.0 has tried to add a TCU. If not, I may experiment and try to downgrade, if possible, and try again.

All the APIM really does is control the authorization and turning the hot spot off and on. Once it is activated you don't even need the APIM installed for the TCU to remote start, lock, etc.

I am trying to get mine working, running sync 3.0 in a 17 F350 but it hasn’t authorized yet, I have tried a few different as builts and waited 7 days in between each one but no go.

Have you removed the vehicle from FordPass, logged out, logged back in and re-added the vehicle? Each time I did that, new options appeared to authorize.

You must not have something setup properly whether it be software or hardware...who knows. You need someone that has done this to review your work in person.

I have cell signal and everything populating, serial number showing up on my sync screen, just waiting to authorize. Not sure what else I could do..
