SYNC Connect - How Important Is It As an Option?
I found a couple of remaining 2017 XLTs on the lot that have everything I'm looking for with the exception of sync connect. I'm not all that familiar with the service, but is it something you use frequently or next to never.
Thanks

The only really useful thing it has is the scheduled auto start and ability to auto start from your cell phone. I really wanted it, but found the exact truck I wanted, all but Sync Connect, and I'm not really missing it. I'll probably just have an aftermarket auto start put in, because my key fob has a range of maybe 100 yards.
By auto start do you mean remote start via key fob? Just asking because I have Sync 3, no Sync Connect but I do have remote start. Mine is a 2016, maybe they changed something on the 17s.
Also, you can retrofit the remote start, has to be dealer enabled though.

With Sync Connect you can schedule a time and date for when your truck will start. After having Sync Connect on my wife's 2017 Escape, I'll never buy another car without it. The remote start function through the FordPass app alone is reason enough to have it.
It. Is. Awesome.
It was one of my top 3 must haves when I was searching out my 2017, and it severely limited my choices because there weren't a lot of them in SE Michigan for whatever reason, but I am glad I stuck it out. The scheduled start is great and will only be better once winter sets in. Being able to confirm I locked the truck if I am for whatever reason unsure because I was in a hurry is great.
Being able to locate the truck from my phone for those events where you park in a gigantic parking lot, or coming back from a trip at the airport, etc, also handy.
But I have also found a ton of use in being able to check current miles, fuel levels, etc. Mainly because we have two vehicles with the basic system (other is our C-Max, which uses MyFord Mobile, but basically everything else is the same).
My wife primarily drives the C-Max and it lets me keep an eye on fuel levels and also will alert me if we forgot to plug in the vehicle and stuff like that.
It's definitely a convenience, one we did without for decades, and only you can decide the usefulness. I got really hooked on the system over the past year with our C-Max which is why I had to have it in the F-150. With two very young kids that I have to take to daycare every morning and the rush involved, it was worth the cost just to have the truck started and ready every morning right on time without me having to remember to do it while we madly run around to get ready.

Once Ford releases it "this summer" you will be able to add it. Cost TBD plus an annual subscription fee. Much cheaper to buy it factory installed with 5 years free.

Also, what Ford is releasing is NOT the exact same system and will not (at least as of right now) be integrated with Ford Pass, it will use a separate Delphi app. They were still trying to decide what app it will land in when the beta ended, but I wouldn't count on it being Ford Pass since during the beta they spent a lot of time cleaning up the Delphi app which wouldn't be a concern if they were just going to use FordPass.
Don't get me wrong, it still works great, I beta tested it for about 6 months or so. But yeah, it has a monthly service fee and unknown module cost and while the Delphi app is fine, Sync Connect is a good deal cleaner.
It's fantastic that Ford is offering an aftermarket option, just don't want it put out as being Sync Connect you can add later, it's more equivalent to adding a look-alike Raptor grill to your non-Raptor truck. Same basic function, different package.

He didn't ask what it did, he asked if people found it useful/if it was used often.

The features are really awesome. If you can get your hands on one, you will not regret it.
