On 2017 order guide, it sure looks like the same old sync 3 system and an option to add sync connect. From a cost perspective, it would make much more sense for Ford to have Sync Connect as an add on module than a alternate sync 3 head unit. If that turns out to be the case, perhaps sync connect may be retro-fitted into 2016s after all. Even if in-supported by Ford...

 

Sync Connect is SYNC3 with a built in modem for controlling vehicle functions such as locking/unlocking the doors, remote start and obtaining vehicle data.

Sync Connect can't be retrofitted as Ford controls it by VIN # on there end for the mobile app.
