Sync 3 V2.0 to V3

I have a 2016 Lariat with Snyc 3. V2.0 on it. I want to upgrade to Version 3.0 to get Carplay. I have downloaded the update to a USB drive. I haven't updated it yet. But how do I know if I need to buy the new USB module?

When you have it updated and CarPlay works you don't need a new USB hub. If CarPlay does not work you will need one.
