Sync 3 v2.0 and Android Auto
So, I have had my truck now for about 800 miles, and had had more time to use AA and Sync 3. I really like the system, and I really expect it to grow and become better with time. Right now I like the integration of my phone and the HU of my car. I love that the maps were "free" and are up to date. I also drive a 2009 BMW 335i that has not even audio streaming capabilities via bluetooth (at least with Android), but I did make some changes to have that with aftermarket hardware. Also my previous truck was a 2005 F150. So, yeah I alove the upgrade. The Pandora integration is also fantastic (so are the iHeartRadio, Spotify, etc). I also like the fact that if I am listening to FM or XM and running Waze, I get the notifications regardless. In the bimmer I would have to use my iHeart app and Waze app and stream both via Bluetooth for me to get the Waze updates. Now it doesn't matter what source I use (not sure about CD).
Now a few things that I dislike about it so far. First, the Sync 3 voice commands are far superior then the AA. Second, navigating through contacts to make a phone call is not very simple. Unless it's on your favorites or the previous call, you have to use your phone, or a voice command. I haven't figured out how to search my contacts through the head unit. Also, using your phone is not very simple because as soon as it's connected via USB the phone goes into "AA Mode" and it is not very straightforward how to get out of it. Third, looking for an address on Google Maps can be difficult if you are driving, since it will not allow you to input an address using an on-screen keyboard; only voice commands... I understand most of these are for safety, try to keep your eyes on the road, but I find myself trying to manage my phone, which now is more complicated, more dangerous because sometimes AA wont understand what I am trying to say.
I think that is pretty much all I like and dislike so far about the system. If anyone has similar, better or worst experiences post below; would like to see if there is anything I am missing out on or what not.
Cheers,
EJ
