Can I take a Sync 3 from a wrecked 2016 F150 and replace my MyTouch in my 2015? I understand there may be programming but how are the wiring connections outside of the USB hub? Are they a direct fit?

Yes. You will need the APIM, screen, gps antenna, USB hub, and USB hub adapter. Along with those you'll need to have it programed. There are Gen 3 and Gen 4 APIMs which have higher CPU clock speeds and should perform better/smoother. I believe Gen 3 started in 2018.5 and continued through 2019. Gen 4 was for 2020. Gen 3 part numbers will start with a K and Gen 4 with an L. Additionally, if you are purchasing a Nav APIM, try to get the donor vehicle VIN, because if you want to purchase Nav updates the legit way, you need the donor VIN to input on the Map update site.

 

I was reading today that now you can jailbreak the Sync 3 allowing you download any app you desire. They also mentioned you can over clock the CPU for better performance. I have my18 with sync 3 and am about to upgrade to the last update you can have on the Sync 3 several more than Ford offers all for free. Got to Love these trucks!
