Default Sync 3 update issues

I am sure this is somewhere, but i couldn't find anything while searching. I am trying to update Sync 3 from V1.0 to current 3.0. I follow all the instructions on ford's site, download to a Flash drive in the proper format, but when i plug the flash, it says indexing, indexing complete, and the update never begins. I have not replaced my USB's to support CarPlay, is that the issue? seems like i should be able to update without replacing the USB's. Forgive me if this has been discussed 10,000 times, just looking for a little guidance.

2016 Platinum

Thanks,

Thanks,
I remember doing mine when I bought my truck back in August. Sync 1.0 to 3.0. I was all set to order a new USB hub, and another poster told me not to worry about it because I'm running Android Auto. I believe you will need updated USB ports for Apple. If memory serves it solved a bunch of problems for guys here.

It takes awhile for the update to start. I also had the engine running at the time. My wife's 2016 Escape was built in 2015 and it downloads via WiFi perfectly. Except for the last update, I always had to use the flash drive for my F150.

Find the 2.2 version first. I couldn't go from 1.0 to 3.0, had to go to 2.2 first.

Also make sure you’re using the correct type of usb drive.. don’t use the ones with the blue in the connector which are usb3... they won’t work.. you need the older and slower usb2... once I got one of those from Staples it worked fine for my update from 2.2 to 3.0...
