Sync 3 Update By Dealership...
So...now that Sync 3 V2 is out...dealerships have access to this software to flash APIMs if they need to. I would assume they would. If that's the case, has anyone tried to get a dealership to push that update manually?
Or are the dealerships even doing OTA for updates (I thought I had heard that even the dealerships are doing work on these using wireless)?
The reason I ask is that I have the USB hub on the way, but I don't really want to wait a month and my vehicle is going in for the SiriusXM antenna this week. At this point, unless there's something different with our APIMs, I don't see why they wouldn't push the update if requested.
On a side note, I know that Sync 3 updates can be downloaded via the Ford owner site and installed via USB (in addition to OTA). I'm curious if anyone that has Sync 3 v2.0 in their truck or other Ford vehicle has the ability to download it...if so...that would be cool if you could share it :-)
I was talking to a co-worker and he said a friend of his has Carplay in his F-150 and found the update download on the web....so maybe it's floating around out there. I'm looking as I write this...

I didn't say we have to. I was just saying that they most likely have the file available so why wait for the OTA to be released when there's no date and could be months? I'm sure if I reasoned with them they would do the install. They have access to the updates.

I wasn't expecting to much when I opened this, thinking maybe another asking when. Then I read it and get excited. I open up the Ford owner site, and it tells me that my v1 is up to date, no new updates available. Then I got sad.
It appears that v2 is NOT out yet. Or at least not rolled out to the general public.

It's out, just not being pushed out OTA yet. It's easier to install new software on clean hardware because you're working with a known config. Once a user gets a hold of it, they may have changed some setting that you thought shouldn't matter, but still may interfere with the upgrade in some way, possibly leaving your device (in this case, the head unit) inoperable. It also wouldn't surprise me if they're gathering feedback on the Sync 2.0 from the new owners to tweak it before committing to rolling it out to hundreds of thousands of other owners.
