Default SYNC 3, NAV and Traffic

So I traded my '15 GT Premium (with MFT/NAV) in on a '17 XLT with SYNC 3 and NAV on Monday.

Traffic doesn't show up on the NAV maps? Seriously?

The "Technology" person from the dealership called today to ask me how everything was - I told her that I can't see traffic on the NAV. She said "yeah, it's been a problem on all of the '17's. We don't know when they'll fix it, but it's not a Ford problem, it's a SiriusXM problem." Umm, no, it's a Ford problem.

Any feedback from the Ford customer service rep here? Any insight on whether this is going to get fixed is greatly appreciated.

No traffic information on factory navigation. Not sure if any manufacturer has that, definately not Ford. I doubt that will be added anytime soon if they do.

Absolutely incorrect. My '15 GT Premium showed me traffic on the factory NAV screen. Web research shows that some of the systems work reliably, some don't work at all and some are sporadic depending on whether it's feeling lucky... Can't believe this is an issue. Tech said it was a SiriusXM issue, but I have TrafficLink on my Harley and it shows up on the factory NAV there as well. Something's broken, and it's not just my NAV.

While I cannot comment on traffic on the OEM nav, since you have a 17 already...do you have an android or apple phone you can plug into the USB port? If so, either is 100% better than factory nav.

Good luck in your quest for traffic. I never use my NAV so I never paid attention to it prefer waze anyways for traffic needs.

Also, if this is a SiriusXM issue what happens when you no longer have a Sirius membership?

I was under the impression OEM NAV did not include traffic but I guess this guy knows more than I do.

Yeah, I should probably just use Carplay - but I am one of the few that actually likes the built-in NAV. Didn't mean to come across as a dolt - I've just been using NAV w/traffic for the last 4 years ('13 GT premium and '15 GT premium) on Ford products and can't believe it's a busted product already in the 2nd model year.

It has been mentioned before but here is a repeat:

10/26/16 SSM 46151 - 2016-2017 Ford And Lincoln Vehicles Equipped With SYNC 3 And Navigation – SiriusXM Traffic Not Loading
Some 2016-2017 Ford and Lincoln vehicles equipped with SYNC 3 and navigation may exhibit a condition in which the SiriusXM Traffic Listing is not loading but all remaining Travel Link features operate properly. SiriusXM Traffic is only available on vehicles equipped with navigation, only in select markets and requiresan active subscription to SiriusXM Traffic information. If SiriusXM Traffic will not load attempt the following procedure. Turn the ignition off, open and close the driver’s door, wait for 3 minutes, then drive the vehicle outside to obtain a clear view of the sky. SiriusXM Traffic should recover. If SiriusXM Traffic does not recover continue to monitor OASIS for future updates. Engineering is aware of this concern and no component replacement or any software re-flashes should be performed at this time. The SYNC version can be confirmed via OASIS.

And yes....no further update since then.

Thanks, I'll give that a shot tomorrow when I get the truck back from the service department (they're looking at another issue). If that doesn't work, I'll have SiriusXM send a reset and see if that works - but I doubt that it will. Traffic Link is included "free" for 5 years on the Fords - and it's normally a separate subscription from regular Sirius radio (I pay 2 different fees on my Harley)... Since Ford manages the data subscription, I'm not sure exactly what needs to be done. I guess I'll get it sorted out.

Wow what the heck I can't believe this is an issue on the 2017s. Sorry to hear about your trouble.

I have a 16 with nav and the traffic works flawlessly and I love it.
I actually prefer it to Google maps. But Google maps shows traffic on smaller streets.

I love the f150 factory nav because it looks just like the Google maps. I love the BlackBerry bases SYNC 3. I don't wanna have to plug in my phone Everytime I drive to use the maps .
