Wait until you see what they want you to pay for it.

Isn't it supposed to be free the first time? I bought my truck a year ago (2 days less, to be exact), and salesman told me that. Is it true or not? And finally, without the Ford app (whatever is called), is there a way to install it ourselves? If not, I'm not going to bother with it, since I'd never take my truck to a dealer just for that. In fact, hope it never has to touch another dealer again. He he. I'd only do it if I can do it myself. I don't use nav much, and changes are always minimal anyway, so not concerned not having the latest version. Cheers.

It would be nice to see what the actual cost will be. Now with the folks who had the previous Sync version, were the initial updates rather expensive and went down over time or were they a decent price to begin with? If it's the same cost as the ones that I see online (60 US) that is not a bad deal but if it's 150+, I will just buy a garmin and use the lifetime updates.

It will probably be $150+ and be 5 years out of date. So if you live in a metro area where the roads change frequently you will gain 0. If up to date mapping is important then use your phone or a Garmin.

On my 38th Ford
Very true. I hope the update has the new speed limit changes in Michigan, I really don't want to use my phone, or have a Garmin stuck on the window. Uck. I much prefer the cleaner look after having Garmins for the last 20 years.

The Sync 3 Maps were $150 when they were available.

I updated once. $149, main roads were okay, but I had a housing addition that had been by my neighborhood for four years, and it wasn't on the map. Ford really needs to up their game, and offer maps that upload through SAT, and have up to date streets. I know they won't because it cost them money.
If I really need to have a address, I use my phone through SYNC, unless it's bad cell reception, then back to NAV.
