Default Sync 3 and iPhone 7 splitter

Does anybody, that has sync 3, also have a splitter like this and use it to charge and use apple car play? Curious if it works before I buy one and test.

Is this necessary with multiple USB Jack's in the vehicle?

When I get a chance I'll check my manual, I'm not sure if all of them charge. I've only used one Jack.

If you have the dual USB jacks in your truck, underneath the head unit, they both charge. With speed they charge my phone, I'd say they are 2.1A. But don't take my word for it. Just going off of the speed with which they both charge my phone.

That's what my aim is. Want to make sure it's going to charge good when using car play

I don't think it's going to charge your phone noticeably faster if you split it and charge off of the DC outlet in your truck. The USB seems to charge at about the same rate the DC outlet when I've plugged my phone into my truck.

In my truck the 12v charges a load faster than the USB

I don't have Sync 3 in the F-150 but do have it in the C-Max, a 2016. So I replaced the USB hub with the new one for CarPlay and my iPhone 7+ charges very fast on that hub, I see no reason for a secondary charging connection.

Maybe I am missing something, but that looks like a dual input into the phone, not a dual input into the usb hub.

No I am pretty sure you are correct. He wants to pull power from a higher output source (such as a 4amp DC charger) and data/audio through the vehicle usb cable, this connects all that to the single in on the iPhone.
