Default Sync 3 conversion

I went from a 4" to sync 3 non nav screen. The apim was from a 2017 Ford focus. I made my own conversion harness, pretty much got everything in forscan set up correctly. Only issue I'm seeing right now is the compass on the cluster is going crazy. Any one ever run into this any help would be appreciated.

Do you have a new antenna plugged into the back of the APIM? I had to buy a generic fakra antenna (blue plug) from amazon to solve that issue.

Yes I bought the antenna and plugged in. Another issue I have is that the apim I bought has sync 3 ver 2.2 . I'm trying to get ver 3 from Ford website, but it shows sync 1(4" screen) update. Update over WiFi just keeps circling. Any idea on where else to download the update?

Oh ok. You can check the antenna signal to see if it is a defective antenna by holding the eject button and seek forward button at the same time to get into a technical menu. From there you can check satellite history and satellite signal strength to see if it’s picking up a signal.

For updating I did the long route. Found APIMs from wrecked 2018 trucks and looked at the vin to see if it was nav or not. Added it to my Ford owner account until I found one with the version I needed. That’s how I got 3.0
