Default Switching from Cap to Cover.....and

back again!

Anyone do this? I have a Leer XL on mine now and I like it but there are many months out of the year I won't want or need it. It's about 120lbs and doesnt seem like it would be difficult to take off and put back on. I have no leaks and feel that if I needed a new seal each time its on/off I would think something like sil seal would do ya. Put the cap on some home made horses to keep it off the ground and in good shape.

I was thinking this isn't that bad a hassle if you were to go with something like XTang 2.0.

Am I off my rocker? It would be on/off probably 2xs a year. Just thinking while I wait for my kids basketball game to start.

Too much work for me and IMO, it is a lot of work getting those on and off.

If you have the help, lots of room to store and seems worth it to you then there
would be no reason not to. Xtang people hope you do it.

Is it the weight savings your trying to take advantage of?

I can't even think of a time that I wished I didn't have my cap on.. On the few times I needed to carry something that wouldn't fit in back with the cap I use my Bobcat trailer. Like carrying rocks/stones and then I can drive the Bobcat into it and unload them.

Don't get me wrong, no complaints on the cap; I very much like it and wouldn't want it off for very long. Always looking for best of both worlds I guess....Mostly summer with it off would be it. Fall I sleep in the back in the mts often (bed rug is gr8). Winter is a big plus with the cap and the thule rails for snowboards and the like.
