SuperCrew 6.5 bed issues?
I am looking at new supercrews and have been unable to decide on the 5.5 or 6.5 bed. I went to my local dealer in hopes to look at and test drive one of each but they only have 5.5 bed models in stock. Closest 6.5 a few hours. The salesman told me that there have been lots of issues with that config and they don't order them anymore. Searching the webs have turned up little specific info - just lots of info regarding the driveshaft slip yoke problem that seems to be applicable to both 5.5 and 6.5 models. and the fact that the 6.5 model has a 2 piece shaft. Does anyone have any hard evidence or reason that the 6.5 is problematic?
Thanks in advance.

Hmm... I think you're issue is your salesman. I'm a Ford salesman. No dealership likes to dealer trade just for someone to test drive a car, but lying about an issue that doesn't exist is garbage.
At the end of the day if the dealer gets you the truck and you don't buy it, it's just another new F-150 in inventory. Not the end of the world. Best of luck to you; Screw 6.5' bed would be my preferred configuration because I like the looks.

I've got a screw 6.5 bed. I love the bed and the truck in general. I believe the longer wheel base is better for towing and the extra bed space is always welcome. I ordered my truck from out of state to get the 6.5 bed, wouldn't have it any other way.
I do have a vibration issue, only when coasting between 40 and 55 mph. I have not taken it back to the dealer yet to have it checked out. 11k miles.

Dealers get into their own groove. Unlike yours, mine loves the 6.5 bed. Because he stocks them, he sells them. I've had mine since March 2015. Not a single problem. 17k miles. Like it more every day.
I was really on the fence between 5.5 and 6.5. In the end I went with 5.5
Main reason is I looked at my needs and how often I may need 6.5 vs 5.5 and where I would drive and more importantly park the Truck.
I decided to just get the bed extenders on the 5.5 which will work great for any timber etc just not sand and gravel that would leak out
So far no regrets but if I was putting a big tool box in there etc then I would probably have gone with 6.5 bed

SCrew 4x4 w/ 6.5' bed and tow mirrors. Aside from being a bit of a challenge to park, no issues at all.
I had a 2010 SCrew w/ 5.5' bed. On this truck, I knew I had to have the longer bed. I use the extra space on a regular basis.

Yeah, find a new dealer. When I got my 6.5' Screw, my salesman kept trying to tell me a 5.5' bed with an extender was the same thing. I told him he wouldn't get my business unless he pulled a 6.5' from another dealership. I've had no problems with mine but only 8500 miles.
