I’m in the market and making the switch from 6.5 to 5.5.

Ive never had a short bed but think it’ll work out just fine. Plus I think it looks better on a super crew IMO.

The 5.5 would fit in my garage. The 6.5 would not. That is why my SuperCab has a 6.5 bed, not the 8.

Went with the 6.5 this time around on my 17 and don’t plan on going back to short bed.

To me the 5.5 looks strange on a supercrew. But that's why they make vanilla and chocolate! The 6.5 on the supercrew also fits in my garage, so it is the 6.5 for me!

5.5 because I like the look better and it's all I need. I use a utility trailer for any real hauling.

The part of the driveway where I park the truck would put the 6.5' bed about 6 inches in to the sidewalk. Figure some kid would hit it with his bike handle bar, or take out his leg on the trail hitch. Otherwise, I'd probably get the 6.5. At the same time, I really like my new truck with the 5.5' bed.

If you live near a city, and park in crowded parking lots regularly, you gotta go short bed. I got the short bed but I find myself wondering if the larger bed would make the ride smoother (it's pretty good already). I think I'll get a longer need next time around.

Any real data from Ford?

I suspect only one in twenty F150s is a 6.5.

They can be hard to find.
