Subwoofer upgrade only
 

I've got a 2015 Lariat. With the Sony sub. I need more bass. Are the amp and same the same unit? Can I upgrade the sub by itself? Or the amp by itself. Or do I need to upgrade both, and can I upgrade both. If I had my choice, I would by a new amp, and replace the sub, possibly building a new box. If I replace the amp, is there a power wire and RCA's in place that i could just unhook from the existing amp, and wire up to the new amp? I think I would need to replace both because the resistance of the stock sub is something weird. If I can use the existing wire, that would make is very easy. I'm not trying to go huge, but I think anything will be better than the sony sub/amp. Is the amp that is there one amp for all the speakers, or just for the sub? if its for all speakers, then I probably can't do it. If its just for the sub, then it should be on problem. Any help would be appreciated.

I did search, but couldn't find the answers to my questions. I don't want the kicker upgrade, because I'm not looking t spend that much. I can by a decent sub, and a decent amp, for way less, and do the work myself.
