Default Subwoofer

Too start, I am not willing to give up any of my underseat space. This leaves the Kicker VSS, Kicker HS8 or Rockford Fosgate PS8 as sure fits behind the drivers side rear seat. The VSS is very overpriced at $699 and has no remote gain control. The HS8 and PS8 look very similar and can be had for $200 +/-. Any reason to choose one over the other? Not interested in the several off-brand knockoffs of these 2.

Agreed, the VSS is just stupid expensive for what you get. You would be far better off with two of the HS8 or PS8 and have $300 leftover!

Either one is probably fine. I always lean towards RF due to their typically superior amplification. However, in this case I am sure they nearly identical, it's a coin flip.

I've got the Kicker HS8 and am pretty happy with it.

Cool, I may try one of those myself! I think I could live with the stock system if it just had a touch more low end.

Installing it was pretty easy, I followed the steps that Southpaw laid out.

But now I feel as if the sound coming from the doors isn't quite up to par with the sub now. So I may be looking at one of these to add a little more oomph to the rest of the system.

But regardless, that HS8 made a huge difference in the sound!
