Default stuck in park

I attempted to put my truck (2015 scab fx4 5.0) in gear this morning and it would not shift into gear. After a couple of tries the console shifter moved into gear. The next time I tried to shift into gear it took several tries until it went in gear. I removed the console trim and I am able to manually actuate the detent and get it into gear with no problem now. Question. Would a faulty or intermittent brake switch cause this or ? The brake lamps are coming on as they should each time I test them. I am glad I can manually actuate the detent and get it in gear as we are way up in the mountains with sketchy cell service and limited resources. Any information would be appreciated.

More likely it's the shift interlock solenoid

I replaced the brake pedal switch, resolved the issue. I am going to buy a spare and keep it in my truck. Takes about one minute to change out.
