Default Strange Door Locking Issue

Other day stopped to get coffee and left truck running. Ran in got my coffee returned to truck and guess what... both front and rear driver side doors are LOCKED. FOB was in the truck so I used the touch pad and guess what.. NADA! I was like WTF is going on here? Tried several times then tried passenger side front door. Lucky for me both of them were unlocked??

I have a 2017 SCREW Lariat so it's push button start so the key was of course inside the FOB! Bottom line no clue what happened but no longer trust the locking system. Going to make sure I have a key only my person to unlock the doors in case it happens again.

Just wondering if anyone else has ever had this happen.....

That is odd. You would think the key would be in close proximity so even if it was locked as you went to open the door it would unlock it.

Exactly what I thought too! I got concerned cause I was 15 miles from home where extra FOB is, other FOB in truck with it running. Yea I should have shut it off but it was about 10 degs sooooooooo I stupidly left it running. The FOB was on the dash so it couldn't get much closer.

All I can think is something triggered the doors to lock but how could it only lock the driver side doors? Don't get me wrong I was very happy the other side was unlocked but I could have really been hosed.

So bottom line for me these electronic systems aren't bullet proof and it might pay to have a key handy that's outside your truck!

** for the sake of full disclosure my truck has been Forescanned for various things such as Lincoln Folding Mirrors and several other things. Doubt that had anything to do with it but ya never know.............

Why not leave it run but take the fob with you?

The horn will honk if you get out with the truck running and the fob in your pocket.

There's a Forscan fix for that too, and the OP says he has already done some Forscan mods, so it shouldn't be too hard to change that behavior, thus allowing them to take the key with them in a situation like this one.

No problem - that's what I'm here for! Now if I could just get off my *** and set up Forscan so I too can do these mods, that'd be great!

I don't have push button start on my F150, but on the wife's 2018 Edge the FOB has to be outside the vehicle to unlock and will not unlock the opposite door, only the door you are standing beside.

I believe if you push the unlock button 2 times quickly it will unlock all the doors. At least that's how my truck works with the FOB.....
