Default Steering wheel lights

I have a 2016 xlt super crew and as day light is at a premium these days I'm noticing the buttons on my steering wheel are dark. Should they be lit up like the window buttons and radio controls?

I’d be guessing the clock spring in the steering wheel is bad, something’s work, some don’t. Owners manual is available online, just “type your year Ford 150 owners manual”. It’s downloadable. Search here for the clock spring and several threads exist and on YouTube I’m pretty sure a video exists on how to change it.

Have you tried the Dimmer buttons next to the lights switch?

oddly now im finding some times i have working lights and sometimes not. if i turn the lights on manually they may come on or if i put it back to auto lights they may work. i also recently found my volume up button now changes my audio source which is really annoying.

Sound like a clockspring going bad. Wouldn't be the first.

You can find an owners manual on eBay.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/274821390652

I would get that before replacing clock spring. Some up the features you have to set or adjust through the infotainment screen. I was just researching how to replace my steering wheel to that of the Raptors and one of the commentators on you tube said a lot of people have done the swap at home but sometimes the buttons don’t work or activate another feature. Just a thought.

With the truck being used you can never tell. I hope that price goes down on the owners book for you.

I have that issue too. I replaced the buttons and still same issue. I found out that it is mostly likely the steering column control assembly that needs to be replaced, I just never got around to it yet.
