Default Steering Wheel Grind?

Been hearing a rotating grinding sound when barely turning the steering wheel off center around 40-45 mph all the way up to 60 mph. Then when I turn the steering wheel back to center again it goes away usually. Doesn’t seem to matter which way I turn steering wheel but I hear it when going around corners. Any ideas?

Describe the truck, year, engine.

What about lower speeds? Are you saying, only felt between 40 and 60?

Probably your clock spring. Or your column shroud is rubbing against wheel.

2018 XLT 5.0. Yes, it occurs even in lower speeds but mainly heard around 40-60 mph.

would you say the noise is inside the cab, or out?

does it change from low to high speeds, or exactly the same? 2wd or 4wd make a difference? any front end work performed lately?

I’d say it’s inside the cab. 60 mph is the sweet spot. I’ve had a 2.5 inch leveling kit since I bought it from dealership. This noise hasn’t always been there. I’ve got 305 65 18 BFG’s. Not sure if a component has worn out or what but like I said, it only makes this rotating sound when steering wheel is barely turned going around curves in the road.
