Question Steering wheel buttons malfunctioning

This has started happening recently and randomly (not always but frequent enough to call it random):
  • The volume up button acts like the Mode button - changing from CD to Radio to Sirius, etc.
  • The left hand buttons for changing the in-dash screen - the Up button starts "reset" of screen as if I am holding down "OK" button.
I read some old forums and found that this has been an issue since 2009 model F150s.
Is it button malfunction due to 3 years os use? Why did both left side and right side buttons start acting like this at same time? Seems more like software issue due to both buttons having same issue.

My 2009 did this... the fix was a new steering wheel and clockspring if memory serves.

This happened to me a couple of times in my 2015 Platty and I reset a module based on feedback I got here and it hasn’t happened again in over a year.

Do you recollect which module was it?

I have been experiencing the same issue. The local dealer did not know what to do.

It's likely the SCCM. That's where the settings for the buttons are located.
