Default Steering rack on 2015?

Does anyone know if they used the same junky steering set up on the 2015's as they did on the 2009 - 2014 models? Is it the same company producing them?

They did not last long in many cases, on my 2012 the entire EPAS needed to be replaced at 17k miles... the part alone is like $1200 so if your out of warranty is a pretty pricey repair.

So one failed on one truck and now they're all junky?

First off I did not call them junky, 2nd there was way more than one truck that had it fail. Maybe you should spend some time on the 2009-2014 section and inform yourself a little bit on the subject.

I don't know how wide spread it was but there were a significant number of trucks in the previous body style that had issues with the EPAS. I don't know how many actually completely failed but many of us had issues with what was perceived to be a rattle in the steering. If you search the forum for the previous body style you'll find it was more widespread than one truck. I think its a legitimate concern and one I had when purchasing a 2015.

Regarding the original posters question, I don't know what if anything they changed. I do know that I've had none of the steering rattle issues on my 2015 that I had on my 2011 and I've not heard of anyone else experiencing the EPAS issues on a 2015.

I have had no problems with the EPAS and very few actually do. The problems come when people put bigger and heavier wheels on the trucks. Then it's just the name of the game.

While I do agree that doing those sorts of mods can affect the EPAS lifespan my truck had no mods and had the OEM tire size on it.....

I love my truck but my only concern revolves around the epas: 1 the steering column grinds into position at start up, 2 50% of the time parking lot driving includes squeaking when I turn the wheel. Low level doesn't seem to be a big deal but it's there and lastly in the back of my mind is the only recall to date involves the component we are writing about, although not for my VIN.
