Steering or handling help please.
I've got another question for the truck scientists here. My new truck is a 2016 Super Cab 4X4 XLT with the HDPP and what I'm noticing is how easily the front wheels feel like they are wandering around on mainly highway driving. It likes to follow any low spots or grooves in the road or if you catch the shoulder it wants to pull right in to the gravel. The truck originally came with C rated Wrangler tires and I've changed the tires to Toyo AT2's with the E load rating. The new tires have made a big difference in how the truck feels by getting rid of the side to side squirm but I can't get rid of how it wants to wander around. I originally ran 60 PSI in all tires and have since dropped it back to 55 PSI in the front and 60 in the rear and then to 52 PSI in the front to try to correct it but have had no luck. Truck calls for 48 PSI in all 4 tires so I'm wondering if I drop the rear PSI as well will it help or what do you suggest? Has anyone else noticed this in their truck? My 2013 was basically the same truck as what I have now and it wasn't like this and my friend drives the same 2016 without this issue so any suggestions would help.
I was wondering about the wandering today, too! At first I thought my alignment was off because it was pulling to the right. But then I noticed sometimes it pulls to the left. You're right though. It just seems to follow any minor low spot in the road without hesitation. Drives me nuts.
quite a few threads on this already. Take to dealer and tell them what it's doing, there a reflash for the power steering "assist" or whatever they call it that is supposed to compensate for road crown. Many have found it did not help thought, myself included.
