The beauty of EPS is that the effort and response can be tuned independently and both can be tuned w.r.t. vehicle speed.

You might notice that @ parking lot speeds that the effort is lower than @ highway speeds. That is on purpose.

You might also notice different steering effort and response in tow/haul and sport mode.

The steering is on the light side in my 2016 F150 502A SCrew, but not objectionably so, IMHO.

Ive been in to dealer like 4 times re drifting, (No Im not crazy) have another f350 2010 to compare it to,
They have made it kinda better, but basically it still all over the road,
It is not a good drive, but better once you are going 60 mph.

It is the thing I hate most about my truck, and the noisey creaks & rattles (seat door, moonroof, and whatever else)

Been in 3 times for rear doors not opening. from inside and outside.
Going back this Thursday re 1 rear door. Last time they kept my truck for 3 days, to fix the door. (would not open from inside) get home next day try the door, cannot open from outside or inside again.
Ha I am fed up with this, I like my truck, but it kinda sucks to tell you the truth.

I know what you mean. I honestly hate the epas. The connection between the steering wheel and the road is gone because the epas adjusts everything.

just had the update done, seems to feel like it takes a wee bit more effort. Need more seat time for a better review.

Mine is in the shop now and they gave it an update but I haven't gotten it back. They are waiting for a windshield to replace my rock cracked one with 4,000 miles on it. Drove my old trucks for years without that happening.

Got my truck back. It took an update and the steering is much improved. Better feel and easier at highway speed. Holds the road better. Maybe they will have an update later on that makes it even easier to steer at highway speeds. Not too happy with the windshield installation with some scratching on my dash and paint around the windshield.

So you took it in for the drifting problem? I don't have that just the hard to move steering wheel at highway speeds. But afraid they will make it worse.

My complaint was stiff steering at highway speeds. The update should help. I was ready to get rid of my truck but it is better.

Now my 2015 f-150 the steering is much lighter which is fine but it seems going over little bumps there is noticiable play in the wheel , almost like you can feel something loose yet it still feels solid if that makes sense.

I'm not really sure to describe it but it doesn't have that same confidence that my 2013 has is this a characteristic of 2015s or is there an issue.
Just want some insight before a wasted dealer visit
I agree the steering sucks. I thought I’d get used to it after 20k miles in my 2018 stx. It’s comparable to the steering feel of my 2000 f250 with 300k miles on it.

Yeah I know this is an older thread but...

I'm driving a loaner (new 2019 XLT w/1500 mi) for a week or so and definitely notice a difference in steering feel compared to my 2017 STX. I can't imagine steering would be intentionally "softer" (or what I refer to to as sloppier) on the lower trim levels so has there been some change in the past two years or should I have my steering/linkage/whatever looked at as long as it's in a Ford shop now for a paint issue? I make minor steering corrections constantly on my 2017 but this 2019 stays pretty true to the line and feels much planted to the lane.
