Default Steering Failure

Have a 2016 F150 XLT with a 5.0. 75,000 miles.

Went to turn onto my road, and the steering locked up. I got part way into the turn, and it locked. I could not turn fully right.
I stopped and backed up, turned to the left, and then it would turn to the right.

I was on my way back from the dealership, having wiper linkage and backup sensor replaced. Glad no one was coming the other way.

Is this a know issue?

Thnaks
Dave

Question: Does your truck have the electric servo motor assisted steering?

Following this. FWIW, I had one of these motors go out on my wife's Chevy HHR. Dealer would not cover it and wanted $300 for the motor alone. I got the motor online for $130 and replaced it myself in 1/2 hour. 1 connector and 2 bolts plus additional time for dash cover and what not.

I have a 2015 F150, and mine did the same at 79K, they replaced it all under warranty as I purchased the extended 5yr/125K.
