Default Stalling without check engine light

My truck stalls when it’s warm outside on start up. When I crank the truck it runs and then starts to idle hard after about 2 minutes. ( heavy vibration and engine reving) On my dashboard, the engine gauge is reving up and down. After another 2 minutes of idling or if I begin to drive, the truck will stall and then only the battery light comes on, the check engine light never comes on, I used a OD 2 code reader and no codes came up. If I push the acceleration it will not go. I have to park the truck, turn it off, and then back on and it runs with no more problem.
This only happens from a cold start. Sitting outside all day for 8-10hrs of non use. Once the truck is running it never happens again. It never happens in the morning or night time with lower temperatures Only in the day when it’s warm/hot. I was told to run a compression test and check the thermostat. Any suggestions?

" I was told to run a compression test and check the thermostat." LOL. Because you have issues that come and go; and appears to be temperature related. I suspect some kind of electrical problem. Loss of throttle response and fluctuating idle RPM make me suspect PCM or throttle body, or wiring problem associated with these two. Check powers, grounds, and communication network on both when the issue is occurring. Check wiring for these two modules for any damage (rodent damage, sharp edges, etc). My LAST option would be to throw parts at the problem before I KNEW for sure what the problem is.

I had the same issue which turned out to be the VCT solenoids. Never threw a check engine light. I got fed up and after a while of researching and finding out it was a common problem I bought the parts and had the ex-brother-in-law replace them for me. Fixed the stalling issue.
