Default Spraying out engine bay on 2.7??

Anyone have any trouble doing this? I am not planning on using a pressure washer, just hose pressure with some mild soap.

I ask because I have seen many destroyed wire harnesses and ECMs on motorcycles by overzealous pressure washing, let alone the rusted solid wheel bearings.

I have been washing out engine bays with dish soap and a regular low pressure garden hose for years. Never had an issue. Just washed out the engine bay of mine on Saturday (6.2 not the 2.7). I always towel everything dry after and let the engine warm up fully to burn off any excess moisture.

With all the molded plastic engine covers and other under-hood components with nooks, crannies, and crevices, I have found using a leaf blower a handy way to dry off the engine bay. I finish the job by an application & wipe-down with a liquid detailing preservative.

Pressure washer is fine as long as you use the tip with the least amount of pressure. Mine has a black, white, yellow and red tip. The black tip is just a little more than garden hose, but I use the white tip for a bit of pressure to clean spots that need it. Just don't concentrate/get the tip close to anything that might be more susceptible to water, that's all.

Power washed the Coyote in the '14 Mustang Gt just prior to installing the Steeda CAI. It was mostly dust (no oil), but it sure did make a difference.

Here's an answer to why. I took care of my 05 and my buddy had an 06. We both had these trucks for a good number of years and he never washed out his engine bay. I did mine periodically. Years went by and under his hood everything had corrosion on it (white powdery crap everywhere). The steering column for example and the steering column U-Joint were corroded like you wouldn't believe. Under his hood looked like someone that didn't maintain their vehicle and mine with 230 k km's looked fantastic without the white powder corrosion on all the aluminum and white metal.

Tire shine does great all by itself. If really neglected use a degreaser first and then tire shine. Don't get it on the belts though.

Bump.. was told long ago that cleaning off the engine pay with a pressure washer or hose was asking for trouble... is there any truth to that? Is there a proper way to do it on these new 2.7s?
