Speedo Calibration
I have a 2016 that's going to be getting 33x12.5 tires soon. I read that the speedometer is now controlled by the BCM and IDS can't edit the tire size. Can HP Tuners accomplish the edit or do I need a custom tune/Hypertech Calibrator?
No you don't need a custom tune or tuner but you will need at a minimum the Hypertech Speedometer Calibrator.
Go to the FORScan page and review that page. There is a correction that can be done using the FORScan software and a compatible OBDII adapter. It does cause a very minor communication warning code but it does not cause the service engine light to come on. As anything you do modify, you use at your own risk but that is also true with the Hypertech Speedo Calibration Programmer also.
If you're only going to go up to 33" tires your speedometer shouldn't be off much since stock tires are a little over 32" tall. Probably not worth spending the money to buy the Hypertech calibrator.
