Default Spark Plug Gap

Hey guys, I'm about to order a tuner from Stage 3 with 5 star custom tunes for my 2015 3.5EB. I know on the last gen that you'd have to gap the plugs colder when you tuned the EB. I've heard it said that for the newer 2015+ EB's it's not necessary. Can anyone confirm this?

Howdy.

While it's ALWAYS best to consult with yer tuner and confirm, both MPT and 5Star recommend the Factory 0.030" gap on a Fideen 3.5 EB, on a stock truck running their tuning. It's a data-driven recommendation, not some Interwebs SWAG - so I'd trust it.

I pulled mine to confirm gaps - all were dead-on. It's very easy to do so no reason NOT to. It's actually kinda fun, lol.

One less thing to worry aboot, if'n ye's corncerned wif factory install variances (which don't appear to be prevalent on this MY, but it's always possible ).

This blog discusses the gaps and the recommendation not to touch it.

Don't go by whatever previous-gen gaps are floating around out there. And 0.026" is FAR too small on a Fideen at any rate. Unless ye plan on pushing 30+ PSI, lol.

Good luck
MGD

PS: Fideen = 2015, fer y'all unfortunate fellers whut be north o' the Mason-Dixon, aight. lol

I will never understand your need to speak gibberish like that.

In all the places I read, .028 was recommended to prevent spark blowout. Seems that this gap is very touchy. If you have the werp hole, you can watch the mpg drop to determine when you need to change plugs next. Generally no more than 25k intervals with this truck it seems.
