Spacer on top of coilover.
Hey guys. When I bought my 16 3.5 it had stock suspension that was near end of its life with 1.5” spacers. I got a good deal on the rough country m1 coilover kit which came with 2” front coilovers rear shocks and block lifts for back. I replaced upper control arms with new ball joints and lower joints as well. I figured anything 3” or over would need beefier control arms. The lift is ok, while it drastically improved the ride from the old stuff it’s far from as good as a fox kit. I’m running 33x12.5 tires on 20” rims. I only get a bit of rub at full lock turning into my driveway. I figure with an extra inch of lift I wouldn’t rub. Which got me thinking… I have those spacers. Could I add those to what I have and what kind of issues do you think I’d run in to. Likely I won’t but curiosity got me. Let m know what you think.
thanks
thanks
Is it possible…maybe, but you’re going to need the control arms and your ride is going to be very poor with little to no rebound. That’s why most kits end at 2.5-3” before moving to drop brackets that change the geometry of the suspension to account for the lift.

Im running the similar tire and wheel package, with a leveling kit from RC.
The original tire width is like 9.5” now you have closer to 11-11.5” (me thinks) which is what is causing your tire rub.
I believe my wheel spacers are 1.75” and I experience no rub at all. you might get away with 1/2” spacers.
The higher you go in lift… the more the tires will come in. Anything above 2.75” (2-3/4) lift will cause suspension contact and your upper ball joints will prematurely fail from the extreme angles it will experience when the suspension travels up and down.
going to 3” and above requires a whole new setup.
