Going from a 2015 Lariat Supercab with sync 2 and the regular sound system- to a 2017 XLT Supercrew with sync 3 and the regular sound system, there seems to be a huge difference in the sound. The 2017 is so much better. What would be the reason for this? Just for my own curiosity!

Are the 17 systems still made by Sony? There's not a woofer on either one.

 

I'd be interested in other people's experience on this!! My 2013 Limited with the Sony system sounded very nice, then with infinity door speakers, it sounded outta this world. Then I switched to the 2016 XLT SYNC 3 non-Sony, it's crap (much worse than GM's basic system) until I revamped the whole system.
Now, I just noticed that a 2015 Platinum window sticker reads: SONY PREMIUM, whereas a 2016 Platinum reads: SONY BRANDED sound, SONY BRANDED???
Does the 2015 have sub? sound better? I tried the 2017 Sony, not so good but more power than basic.

 

I'm tickled with my 17 Sony system.
