SOS - Where is my remote start module?
Hello - owner of a 2018 Ford F150. Currently it is not starting and it isn't the battery or the alternator. We believe it is the remote starter that shorted out the system.
Does anybody know the location of the remote start module IN the truck? Checked under the steering wheel and it is not there. Any other ideas of what is going on would also be helpful. Thanks!

Hello - owner of a 2018 Ford F150 that has been upgraded to have all the bells and whistles when I bought it. Currently it is not starting and it isn't the battery or the alternator. We believe it is the remote starter that shorted out the system.

The factory Ford remote start is handled via the existing modules (RKE - Remote Keyless Entry module, BCM - Body Control Module, PCM - Powertrain Control Module) communicating and working together to process the remote start request.
Unclear by what you mean with the vague comment "upgraded to have all the bells and whistles when I bought it"
Do you mean that you bought a higher trim truck with many options?
Or you had the dealer install a bunch of aftermarket items?
It would help to share what trim level or even what packages you have...
But as IB JT said, there is no separate "remote start module" if it was included from the factory in your trim.

Sorry - disregard that, just a few aftermarket items. Thanks for the response. More than anything just trying to figure out why the truck will turn on but won't start. Like I said, ruled out alternator and battery. Not sure if the remote start is even the issue, that's based on other advice.
You are now learning how deeply complex the vehicle electronics is.
You need to define the following;
1. Does the engine crank from behind the steering wheel?
2. Does the engine crank with the Remote FOB request?
What was installed, replaced or changed?
.Both the remote Transceiver and the manual request use the same start circuit control.
You/we need to see where there might be a common point of failure, first.
You will be surprised where the re-mote Transceiver is located, if it is suspect.

To clarify, the remote transceiver is part of the RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) and is located in the headliner. If the vehicle does not start with the key, the RKE is not part of the problem as it's only the receiver and transceiver working with key fobs. If you have the push button start, then that's different.
Something like this would help greatly to see live data with the scan tool to see what the modules are seeing. But given you have a few aftermarket items, that's more likely to be the source of the issue - or the installation part atleast.
