Get a keychain remote for your opener and then don't bother with the homelink. Personally, I'd love to see the look on a burglar's face if he DID get my garage door opened. He'd likely turn around and run out of fear that he was about to be crushed.

Trying to figure it out!
Since you revived this I will add that my 2015 does not work with the key off. I tried it yesterday and didn't have my key with me but need the garage door open. Didn't happen.

I currently carry a key fob garage door opener and have my homelink disabled, but want to add a hidden switch to "power up" the homelink transmitter when I want to use it.
Will the homelink revert to some factory reset mode (lose it's memory) if powered off for days at a time?
