The maintenance guide says 150,000 miles unless you tow a lot. I'm a little old school and won't wait that long. I don't know when but probably 75,000.

I don't know that I've ever changed transmission fluid not unless there's an issue. 110k on an E250, 97k on a Ranger, 155k on an 06 F150........Ranger and F150 both cracked heads, E250 pulled a 30 ft. camper around for a couple of years.......

I bet that fluid looked like coffee and smelled like turpentine.

Follow manual. Endless threads of those who figure manual is fake news...

Maybe that was back in the day, but everyone I ever knew who changed transmission fluid was left with a leak or a problem developed afterward.......

Same here. My 77 has the original fluid and has towed most of it's miles. The fluid is still clear and doesn't smell burned. Of course it only has 55k miles. I have a 1987 car with 162k on it's original fluid.

1992 Grand Caravan; transmission was a known weak point that was prone to issues. As a result, I made the decision to drop the pan, change the filter and top the fluid off every 30k miles. Never had a leak or a problem in 14 1/2 years and 200k miles of ownership.

Transmission fluid today is much better than it was back then but I will still do maintenance at 100k miles. It is cheap preventive action.
